Ele tocou e foi membro de uma das mais lendárias instituições do Rock N'Roll, o Fleetwood Mac de 1975 a 1987 e de 1997 até 2018.
Possue 6 álbuns em sua carreira solo, além de 6 álbuns gravados e 1 EP pelo Fleetwood Mac.
Já a coletânea intitulada 'Solo Anthology', será lançada em 23 de Novembro de 2018 via Rhino Records.
Ela conterá 3 CD'S que incluirão material dos seis álbuns-solo de Buckingham, faixas ao vivo, canções feitas para trilhas sonoras de filmes e duas músicas inéditas: 'Hunger' e 'Ride This Road'.
